First re-release of the eleventh single by the legendary British Heavy Metal band. It's the second single from the band's fifth full-length studio album, "Powerslave" (1984). It was released as a single over a month after "Powerslave" came out."Aces High" is one of Iron Maiden's most popular songs. The song tells the story of a British RAF pilot fighting against the German Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain (1940), the first battle to be completely fought by aircraft. Blistering leads and marvelous harmonies, an outstanding vocal performance by Dickinson (which he unfortunately never could pull off live) and the rhythm section seems inexhaustibly energetic. To this day "Aces High" remains the most furious Dickinson-era Maiden tune and therefore an indispensable song from their massive discography. The first B-side is a cover of Nektar's "King of Twilight", from their 1972 album "A Tab In The Ocean". Their cover is actually a medley of the songs "Crying in the Dark" and "King of Twilight", the last two songs on the album. Maiden actually again manage to make drug-laden Prog Rock sound like haunting Metal as they did earlier with Jethro Tull. Once again, great cover song!As if this wasn’t enough already, we get one of the greatest Eddie drawings as well. What a superb cover! What a marvelous single!!Recorded from the original analogue master tapes.Parlophone Records Ltd., A Warner Music Group Company, 1984/2014 (2564624867). Made in EU.
